Terms & Conditions – Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business & Management
The online payments and card payments systems are provided by Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business & Management and its third-party suppliers. Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business & Management may need to update these terms from time to time and any changes will be immediately effective. Please read these terms carefully before using the online payment facility. By using the online payment facility on this website, you accept these terms and conditions. If you do not accept these terms do not use this facility.
Definitions & Interpretation
The terms used in this agreement have the meanings set out below unless the context requires otherwise:
“Card supplier” means the institution which owns the debit or credit card you are using on the Online Payment Facility. This may be the financial institution.
“Online payment facility” means the internet-based payment system operated on behalf of the University (PlugnPay).
“Student account” means the account operated and maintained by the University to record the fees, charges, fines, or other debts owed to it by an individual student.
Academic Year: The yearly period of the Course, the dates of which shall be notified to the Student by the University.
Course: The course of study or programme of research at the University.
Fees: Any other fees payable by the student to the UWI.
Student: A person attending or with a confirmed place to pursue academic studies at the University.
Student Rules, Regulations and Procedures: The Rules, Regulations & Procedures used by the UWI. The Student is bound by the conditions of these rules.
Tuition Fees: The fees payable by the student in respect of the Programme/Course and which are collected on behalf of the University.
Conditions
All payments are subject to the following conditions:
You warrant that in using the online payment facility you are authorised to use the credit card for the payment or payments you are making.
Payments received will be posted to the account for whom you are making student’s payment (s) on the same day that the payment is made.
The University cannot accept liability for a payment not reaching the correct student account due to an incorrect account number or other incorrect details, whether personal or otherwise, provided by you.
The University cannot accept liability for a payment not reaching the correct student account where payment is refused or declined by the Card Supplier for any reason.
If the card supplier declines payment, the University is under no obligation to bring this fact to your attention. It is your responsibility to check with the Card Supplier that payment has been deducted from the credit account.
The University will not be liable for any damages whatsoever arising out of the use, inability to use, or the results of use of this site, any websites linked to this site, or the materials or information contained at any or all such sites, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory and whether advised of the possibility of such damages.
Governing law: The laws of Barbados.
Dispute Resolution: Any dispute arising in relation to the terms and conditions will be submitted to a sole arbitrator appointed by UWI. The venue of Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business, Cave Hill
No warranty, representation, or guarantee, expressed or implied, is given by the UWI in respect of the operation of this service.
Refund policy
Undergraduate and Post Graduate Cancellations Refunds & Deferral Policy.
Refunds to students will be processed through: –
Overpayment of fees
Approved requests for leave of absence/ withdrawal
Change of academic/registration status or
Reduction in course load
Donors paying money to UWI and authorizing a refund to the student
A student is not deemed to have been granted deferral of entry, leave of absence or withdrawal without written approval by the Academic Board or the Committee for Graduate Studies & Research. The percentage of the refund given will be dependant on the date of application.
Refunds to students who have received scholarships, grants or other financial assistance cannot be processed until the funds have been received by the Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management. The refunds will in accordance with the terms and conditions of the scholarship/grant.
Refund Schedule
Students will be granted a refund of fees for the relevant semester based on the date on which applications for the leave of absence or withdrawal are made in writing.
Within the first three weeks of the semester 100%
Week 4 75%
Week 5 50%
Week 6 25%
Refund of miscellaneous fees will be granted only if the student has been granted deferral of entry by Academic Board or the Campus Committee for Graduate Studies and Research. Refunds based on LOA and withdrawals are subject to an administrative charge of BDS$50.00
Students who have not paid fees and have applied for a leave of absence or withdrawal will be asked to pay the fees due based on the schedule above before they resume their programme of study.
Students who request leave of absence or withdrawal on medical grounds may be given special consideration based on the documentation provided. Requests for refunds should be made by completing a Refund Request Form (insert link to form) and remitting to schsbmaccounts@cavehill.uwi.edu. The payment will be issued within 5 working days of the receipt of the Refund Request Form.
Executive Education and Professional Development Courses Cancellations, Refunds and Deferral Policy
All notification of cancellations, deferrals, and substitutions must be received in writing. Please submit your request via e-mail to schsbmopen@cavehill.uwi.edu
CANCELLATIONS
The Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management (SCHSBM) reserves the right to make changes to any printed or online information on short courses, instructors, or course information; or cancel any short course due to under-subscription or circumstances beyond its control.
Delegates will be notified at least seven (7) days before the start of any course that must be cancelled.
Fees for short courses cancelled by the SCHSBM will be refunded in full.
The SCHSBM will not be liable for any loss, damages or other expenses that result from course cancellations.
REFUNDS
Due to the costs incurred for program preparation and administration any cancellations received 30 days or less from the program start date are subject to fees as described below. For programs with a virtual component, the start date will be considered the first day of live learning.

DEFERRALS
Due to the costs incurred for program preparation and administration any deferral requests received 30 days or less from the program start date are subject to fees as described below. Deferrals can only be applied to another SCHSBM programme within one year of the initial programme date, after one year the balance is non-refundable.

SUBSTITUTIONS
If you are unable to attend any specific course, you can substitute another participant to take your place in the specific course without any additional charge. Please email any change of participants at least 7 days ahead of the start of the specific course. Please note that this condition is subject to the sole discretion of SCHSBM and is dependent on any lead time needed for alternative arrangements.
Security
All payment details which are entered through this payment gateway are encrypted with a Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate when the student or payer making payment enters them. Communications to and from the service provider’s site are encrypted with a Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate. The University shall not be liable for any failure by the student or payer making payment of fees to properly protect data from being seen on their screen by other persons or otherwise obtained by such persons, during the online payment process or in respect of any omission to provide accurate information in the course of the online payment process. Online card payment is available to payers other than students providing the student ID reference and date of birth is provided to them by the student. Students providing this information are authorising the payer to view their outstanding tuition fees.
Service provider
Online payments of fees can be made by credit card. These payments are not collected by the University directly but by the service provider. When a student makes an online immediate payment, they will receive a confirmation email. If this is not received immediately it is the responsibility of the student to check with the University to ensure that the payment has been accepted.
Data protection
The University will collect (or may already hold) personal data relating to the student, or payer making payment, including name, date of birth, address and student identification number of the student. The University does not store full credit card information and as such is exempt from any liability. The University only stores the first six and last four digits of the credit cards for card registration purposes. By agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions the student (and any payer making payment) accepts and consents to his/her personal data, being provided to the service provider for sole purpose of the service provider offering and administering the online payment facility to the student or payer making payment. It is the responsibility of the student, or payer making payment, to ensure that all personal data provided to or held by the University and/or provided to the service provider is clear and accurate. The University will not be responsible for any losses suffered by the student or payer making payment as a result of inaccurate information being provided to the University or the service provider. The University may use the personal information provided to it to contact the student or payer making payment, to clarify or resolve any issues that arise in connection with any online payment made in respect of fees
Where are Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management courses held and delivered
Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management courses may be delivered face-to-face (In-Person), 100% online (Virtual), blended or hyflex. The mode of delivery for each course will be specified on the course details page. Face-to-face courses held in Barbados will be primarily delivered at the Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management, however, where programmes are held off-site or in another country, it will be stated on the website.
Face-to-Face (In-Person)
Face-to-face teaching is an instructional method where course content is taught in person, in a physical classroom environment.
Online (Virtual):
Online teaching is an instructional method where students and instructors connect via technology to review lectures, submit assignments, and communicate with one another. No face-to-face learning occurs since lectures, assignments and readings are delivered online.
Blended:
Blended teaching (also known as hybrid or mixed-mode) is an instructional method where a portion of the traditional face-to-face instruction is replaced by web-based online instruction. Therefore, classes are delivered via electronic and online media as well as traditional face-to-face teaching.
HyFlex:
Hybrid-Flexible (also known as HyFlex teaching) integrates in-class instruction, online synchronous video sessions, or asynchronous content delivery. The instructor will deliver the class in a regular classroom, but students may attend in person, participate in the class through video conferencing, or watch a recording of the class session.
How often do you run the programs offered and the duration?
Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management will offer short courses and Postgraduate standalone modules all year round. Some courses and customised training modules may also be offered throughout the year by special request, and where resources permit.
Short courses can be as short as half (1/2) a day and as long as sixteen (16) weeks. Details on the duration of each short course can be found on the respective course pages.
Does Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management offer any customised plans or scheduling options?
Yes, Sagicor Cave Hill School of Business and Management offers customised training for organisations both on-campus and on-worksite. We can deliver any of our existing professional development short courses for organisations at their worksite. We can also work with companies to tailor or develop an original course to best suit their organisational needs.

Online Fee Payment system aims to provide flexibility and conform to its continuing students by offering the option to pay online using various payment methods.
It is the sole responsibility of the student to select online payment option. UWI does not recommend/ prefer/promote any particular method.
If payment is made by means of a card that you do not own, the permission of the card owner must always be obtained to make payments using the card. In using the system you confirm that you have obtained such permission.
Information related to payments using credit card is not accessed or stored by the UWI.
No Warranty: The information and materials contained in this site including, graphics, links or other items are provided as on “As Is” and “As Available” basis by the UWI which organized and tries to provide information accurately and expressly disclaims liability for error or omission in this information and materials. No warranty of any kind, implied or expressed shall be given by the University.
Variations to the Terms and Conditions
The UWI reserves the right to vary these Terms and Conditions from time to time and the current version will be that published on this website. We reserve the right to decline the acceptance of an online payment if your account is in default for any reason. The UWI may also make additions/deletions/alteration to the services offered at its sole discretion. We reserves the right to withdraw the service at any time at our discretion. We retain the right to change the terms and conditions for Online Fee Payment without any prior notice Limitation of Liability In no event will UWI be liable for any damages; whether direct or indirect arising in connection with this site or use thereof.
Security
All payment details which are entered through this payment gateway are encrypted with a Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate when the student or payer making payment enters them. Communications to and from the service provider’s site are encrypted with a Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate. The UWI shall not be liable for any failure by the student or third party making payment of Fees to properly protect data from being seen on their screen by other persons or otherwise obtained by such other persons, during the Online Payment process or in respect of any omission to provide accurate information in the Course of the Online Payment Process. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability UWI does not accept liability for any damage, loss, cost (including legal costs), expenses, indirect losses or consequential damage of any kind which may be suffered or incurred by the User from the use of this service.
General Agreement
Payment(s) through this Service may only be made with a Credit Card. Before using this Service, it is recommended that the user shall make necessary enquiry about the charges or fees payable against the Credit card used from Credit Card service provider i.e. the respective Bank. The credit card information supplied at the time of using the service is processed by the payment gateway of the service provider and is not supplied to UWI. It is the sole responsibility of the User of the service to ensure that the information entered in the relevant fields are correct. It is recommended that you take and retain a copy of the transaction for record keeping purposes, which might assist in resolution of any disputes that may arise out of usage of the service.
The Student agrees, understands and confirms that his/ her personal data including without limitation details relating to credit card transmitted over the Internet may be susceptible to misuse, hacking, theft and/ or fraud and that UWI or the Payment Service Provider(s) have no control over such matters. The service is provided using a payment gateway service provider through a secure website. However, neither the payment gateway service provider nor the UWI gives any assurance, that the information so provided online by a user is secured or may be read or intercepted by a third party. UWI does not accept or assume any liability in the event of such unauthorized interception, hacking or other unauthorized access to information provided by a user of the service. UWI and/or the Payment Service Providers shall not be liable for any inaccuracy, error or delay in, or omission of (a) any data, information or message, or (b) the transmission or delivery of any such data, information or message; or (c) any loss or damage arising from or occasioned by any such inaccuracy, error, delay or omission, non-performance or interruption in any such data, information or message. Under no circumstances shall the UWI and/or the Payment Service Providers, its employees, directors, and its third party agents involved in processing, delivering or managing the Services, be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or any damages whatsoever, including punitive or exemplary arising out of or in any way connected with the provision of or any inadequacy or deficiency in the provision of the Services or resulting from unauthorized access or alteration of transmissions of data or arising from suspension or termination of the Service.
The Student agrees that UWI or any of its employees will not be held liable By the Student for any loss or damages arising from your use of, or reliance upon the information contained on the Website, or any failure to comply with these Terms and Conditions where such failure is due to circumstance beyond UWI’s reasonable control. Credit Card, Bank Account Details:
The Student agrees that the credit card details provided by him/ her for use of the aforesaid Service(s) must be correct and accurate and that the student shall not use a credit card which is not lawfully owned by him/ her or the use of which is not authorized by the lawful owner thereof. The Student further agrees and undertakes to provide correct and valid credit card details.
The Student may pay his/ her fees to UWI by using a credit card or through online banking account. The Student warrants, agrees and confirms that when he/ she initiates a payment transaction and/or issues an online payment instruction and provides his/ her card / bank details:
The Student is fully and lawfully entitled to use such credit card, bank account for such transactions;
The Student is responsible to ensure that the card/ bank account details provided by him/ her are accurate;
The Student authorizes debit of the nominated card/ bank account for the Payment of fees selected by such student along with the applicable Fees.
The Student is responsible to ensure that sufficient credit is available on the nominated card/ bank account at the time of making the payment to permit the Payment of the dues payable or fees/dues selected by the Student inclusive of the applicable Fee.
The University will respond to customer service queries within two business days.
