Risk Management for Public Sector Executives

Overview

Many of the current leaders and executives in the public sector both locally and regionally are not adequately trained in risk management beyond financial risk, and therefore, the important risk and compliance mantra of “tone at the top” may be suffering from deficiencies. Given this need for effective risk management, the SCHSBM’s Risk Management for Public Sector Executives will prepare senior public sector officials to become enablers of an effective risk culture in their organisation. Armed with an understanding of the challenges of public policy, this programme will introduce you to fit for purpose risk integration tools that can be leveraged by public entities to increase the risk intelligence of its employees, to transform leadership and strategy, to enhance its culture, and to elevate its service delivery to citizens for world class outcomes.

This programme will focus on strengthening the risk intelligence quotient (RIQ) of leaders and decision makers in the Public Sector through Enterprise Risk Management and it will provide effective tools to aid in operating in this new volatile environment. Additionally, it will enable Public Sector leaders and technical officials to make more integrated risk-based decisions, supported by documented rationale developed through a structured process.
